Mentorship
The Mentorship program is a complete guidance program focusing on basic and
intermediate surgical skills.
Trainee is assigned in one-to-one mentorship to get to know the tips and tricks and back
up this experience with theoretical knowledge.
Who can join?
Certified doctors holding License to practice medicine in Egypt or other countries.
Candidates should hold Diploma, M.Sc., M.D., or Egyptian Board in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Candidates holding postgraduate certificates and license to practice medicine from overseas medical schools.
Recommended for whom?
Doctors who are eager to craft and master the surgical skills of the basic and intermediate Obgyn procedures and know the hidden tips and tricks of the masters.
Doctors who seek confidence and skill crafting.
Residents at the start of their residency.
Doctors starting their private career.
Seniors and surgeons finding a way back after a long break.
Aim of the program
Ensure that trainees are familiar with the different surgical procedures and techniques.
Ensure that trainees are familiar with the procedure indications, preoperative assessment and preparation, and postoperative care and recovery.
Help crafting the basic surgical skills and knowledge.
Ensure patients’ safety and maximize their benefit from the medical services.
Duration of program
3-month program – (1 month program available for overseas students)
The Training Program
The training program will consist of both theoretical and clinical settings.
In the clinical setting, trainees will attend the surgical theater with different eminent professors and consultants, they will be allowed to scrub as first or second assistants with their mentors whenever applicable.
Trainees holding license to practice medicine in Egypt will be assisted in their private clinic cases and follow a similar pathway as in the Surgical Assistance Program during the training period.
Trainees should document all lectures and procedures they attend and assist at in the logbook and get it attested by their mentors.
Trainees should attend the theoretical lectures and complete the curriculum.
Regulation
Trainees should accept and comply to all regulations regarding the training.
Mentors has the right to approve, disapprove and chose the hospital.
Trainees from Cairo & Giza Governorates will be directed to the hospitals where they can admit their cases to.
Trainees from other Governorates will be offered monthly schedule where they will meet with mentors at their Governorate.
Trainees should discuss every case with EAST moderators/mentors a few days before the procedure to confirm the preoperative assessment/preparation needed, the choice of the surgical procedure, type of anesthesia, etc…
Mentors can refuse the surgical assistance if patient is compromised, such as in cases of; underequipped hospital, poor preoperative assessment, unindicated cases, etc.…
Trainees must accept mentors’ guidance at any point of the procedure even if asked to leave the field.
Trainees should closely follow the postoperative care of their patients.
Trainees should always follow mentors’ guidance and rules.
Trainees must hold the full responsibility regarding medico-legalities, finance and administration in front of their patients.
Trainees should always follow hospital rules and regulations.
Trainees must respect their patients’ rights and safety
Eligibility, Registration
Eligibility
All doctors who hold permit to practice medicine and at least started their residency are eligible to join the Surgical Assistance Program.
Registration
Interested Doctors should fill up the training registration form on E.A.S.T website: Training Registration – E.A.S.T (east-eg.org). They will be soon contacted about the starting date.
Doctors should provide a copy of the required documents before starting the program and sign up the admission papers.
