Starter Observership
The starter Observership is a condensed course for basic and intermediate surgical skills.
Trainees will get in touch with eminent professors and consultants live in theater, get to know the tips and tricks and back up this experience with the theoretical knowledge.
Who can join?
Medical school students.
Graduates of medical schools.
Recommended for whom?
Doctors eager to craft and master the surgical skills of the basic Obgyn procedures and know the hidden tips and tricks of the masters.
Residents at the start of their residency.
Fresh graduates who want to get familiar with the Obgyn surgical theater
Aim of the program
Connect trainees with eminent professors and consultants at theater to maximize their work experience and connections.
Ensure trainees master the basic theoretical knowledge and see their applications in theater.
Help crafting the basic surgical skills and knowledge.
Duration of program
12 sessions to be completed over a period of maximum of 3 month.
- 1 month program – 3 sessions per week
- 1.5 month program – 2 sessions per week
- 3 month program – 1 session per week
The Training Program
The training program will consist of both Theoretical and clinical settings.
Trainees will attend the surgical theater to see live cases, the basic Obgyn surgical procedures performed by eminent professors and consultants.
Trainees should follow the preoperative assessment and postoperative care plans of all cases.
Trainees should document all lectures and procedures in the logbook and get it attested by their mentors at the end of every session.
Regulation
Trainees should attend the theoretical lectures and complete the curriculum.
Mentors will specify the number of trainees allowed to attend the theater.
Trainees should not interfere with the surgeons or their assistance, especially in critical
situations.
Trainees should follow closely the surgical steps on the monitor whenever applicable.
Discussion is allowed during the surgical procedure unless the surgeon asked for
moments of silence.
Trainees should always follow mentors’ guidance and rules.
Trainees should always follow hospital rules and regulations.
Trainees must respect their patients’ rights and safety.
Eligibility, Registration
Eligibility
All students and graduates of medical schools from Egypt or overseas are eligible to join
the Starter Observership Program.
Registration
Interested Doctors should fill up the training registration form on E.A.S.T website: Training Registration – E.A.S.T (east-eg.org). They will be soon contacted about the starting date.
Doctors should provide a copy of the required documents before starting the program and sign up the admission papers.
